Dr. Schertell is a licensed naturopathic medical doctor who treats both adults and children seeking a natural approach over prescription medications. Dr. Schertell believes that the body is wise and that each person possesses the ability to heal when given the proper support. She will work to identify and treat the cause of imbalance rather than suppressing symptoms, and routinely performs physical exams and laboratory testing to assist with this process.
Dr. Schertell is the Clinical Director and founder of Vibrant Health and has been in private practice since 2008. She has since gained a reputation as an expert in treating Lyme Disease & tick-borne infections. Given that she has personally been impacted by Lyme Disease, she is passionate about promoting public awareness and lectures on Lyme Disease to both doctors and patients nationwide. She is an active member of the ILADS organization (International Lyme and Associated Disease Society).
Dr. Schertell has several other passions in addition to the above. She is a member of the American Academy of Anti-aging Medicine and has extensive training and experience with Bio-Identical Hormones (BHRT) for both men and women. She is trained and experienced in natural-based aesthetic therapies, including PRP Hair Rejuvenation, PRP Facial Rejuvenation (often referred to as a Liquid Facelift or the Vampire Facelift), micro needling, and hyaluronic acid fillers.
Other areas of expertise include endocrine disorders (particularly thyroid and adrenal dysfunction), auto-immune conditions, and GI disorders (SIBO, Crohns, IBS, others).
Dr. Schertell believes that prevention is the best medicine, and this is what lead her to practice the FDA-approved screening technology known as Digital Infrared Thermography. This cutting-edge technology is growing in popularity as a breast cancer screening tool, offering the potential for earlier detection of breast disease than has been possible through breast self-exams, doctor examination or mammography alone.
Dr. Schertell designed her bachelor’s degree and pioneered as the first student to graduate from the University of New Hampshire with a background in Pre-Naturopathic Medicine. She then went on to attend a 4-year medical school and earned her doctorate from the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine in Tempe, AZ. Dr. Schertell is also a board certified clinical thermographer (CCT) trained by the American College of Clinical Thermology, and member of the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians.
Dr. Johanna Mauss is a dedicated Naturopathic Doctor who is well trained in general family medicine with an integrative approach. She emphasizes collaboration with patients to create a treatment plan that works for them while empowering patients through education to create a partnership for wellness. Dr. Mauss has special interest in thyroid and adrenal health, bio-identical hormone replacement, diabetes and other endocrine conditions, medically supervised weight loss, IV nutrient/ozone therapy, infectious disease, GI ailments, and pain management. Dr. Mauss believes good medicine emphasizes prevention, education, and improving the quality of life. She utilizes an array of approaches to care for her patients including but not limited to: botanical medicine, nutrition, joint/musculoskeletal injections, and IV therapy.
Additionally, Dr. Mauss is trained and licensed to practice Acupuncture. She has found it to be a highly effective treatment alone or in combination with other modalities. Dr. Mauss is able to provide this service as standalone or as part of larger treatment plans.
Dr. Mauss has recently relocated to New Hampshire and is currently in preceptorship with Dr. Nicole Schertell to gain further expertise in the management of Lyme & tick-borne illnesses.
Dr. Mauss grew up in the mountains of Virginia. She attended Christopher Newport University in Newport News, Virginia, earning a Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Human Biology with a Minor in Chemistry. Concurrently, she became a Certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and volunteered with a local rescue squad throughout her undergraduate. Following, she received her Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine from Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine (SCNM). She then completed a post-graduate residency in Naturopathic general family practice at the Southwest Naturopathic Medical Center in Tempe, Arizona. Dr. Mauss in currently licensed to practice naturopathic medicine and acupuncture in the states of New Hampshire and Arizona.
Alise Greenfield is a Board-certified family nurse practitioner and alumni of the University of New Hampshire. A New Hampshire native, she brings experience and passion for patient-centered health. Her professional experience is foundational to her focus on whole-person health and patient empowerment in their health care journey. Alise has witnessed the power of knowledge and education combined with highly-trained medical support to give each person the opportunity to maximize their health and focus on quality of life.
A life-time of personal and professional experiences has strengthened Alise’s ability to provide guidance on nutritional and lifestyle interventions that successfully lead people to optimal wellness. Early in life, she saw the power of healing complimentary therapies can provide by watching her osteopathic father practice. She has personally experienced the healing power of the body when it is properly fueled and given the fundamental building blocks it needs to support the immune system. Having successfully mitigated the effects of Lyme disease and adrenal fatigue through nutrition, lifestyle and alternative therapies means patients are offered multiple modalities with an emphasis on nutritional support.
Alise has over five years’ experience in acute care telemetry, giving her knowledge of conventional medicine that she can combine, if needed, with alternative and holistic therapies. Based on this experience, she is pursuing certification in Functional Medicine. As a result of her recent experience as a palliative care and hospice nurse practitioner, Alise emphasizes the importance of quality of life decisions and the individual needs of each person. Her practice incorporates family conversations and supports, at each person’s discretion, to achieve the best outcomes for her patients.
Alise lives on the seacoast with her husband and fur baby, Miley. In her spare time, she enjoys being active both in the gym and outdoors. She is an avid reader and enjoys expressing her creativity through art.
